The company ‘Splash Swim’ have established a wide network of specialist swimming lessons and coaching across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. They now have a dedicated base in Cardiff, Splash Central where they are continually looking to improve and build on their provision and capacity.

Splash Central in Ocean Way is located in a multi-use sports complex (Cardiff Central Sport and Community Centre) that has had various uses over the years. The building is owned by Cardiff Council with Cardiff Central Youth Club running one part of the building and Splash the other. The building contains tennis courts, a cafe, a swimming pool, gymnastics and fencing facilities.

This building is a 90’s light industrial build and is typical of this nature of sports facility where the aesthetic is predictable in terms of the architecture and interior design. The new design and approach needs to accept that no major changes can be made to the infrastructure and must work with what is already existing.
